Remote Start not functioning

[SO MANY VW'S]

2021 Atlas Cross Sport SEL Pre R Line 4000 miles - 90 degrees so attempted to cool interior before starting trip home from family party. Engine did not start - lots of other noises, lights flashing, etc. but no engine start. Checked to make sure doors locked, parking break engaged, fuel tank full, hood closed. Attempted again - same noised and lights and also noticed that the check engine light came on while the car was still locked and dormant.
Contacted service rep - said never heard of this happening.
Does anyone have a recommendation?
